MatchBox Consulting Group is excited to be partnering with a well-established, national property management organization that is actively hiring a Controller to lead its client accounting function.
This role has been created following significant growth and recent acquisitions. The organization is seeking a proven people leader —someone who brings strong technical accounting expertise paired with the ability to lead teams, improve systems, and operate as a strategic partner to senior leadership.
The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing client accounting operations across Canada within a complex, service-driven real estate environment. You will play a key role in shaping financial operations, supporting executive decision-making, and building a high-performing accounting team.
Candidates with real estate or property management accounting experience who enjoy leading through growth and change will find this role particularly compelling.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead national client accounting operations with accountability for accuracy, compliance, and timelines
Provide strategic financial insight and guidance to executive leadership
Oversee financial onboarding and offboarding of property portfolios
Drive process improvements, system optimization, and technology adoption
Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing accounting team
Act as a senior stakeholder for internal partners and external clients
What We’re Looking For
CPA designation (required)
7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior-level leadership
Background in property management, real estate, or trust accounting
Experience operating in portfolio-based or multi-entity environments
Comfort working with ERP systems (Yardi experience is an asset)
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Exposure to air space parcels, cost-share structures, or developer onboarding is an asset
Why Consider This Role
National leadership scope with executive visibility
Hybrid work model (not fully remote)
Opportunity to step into a leadership-critical role during a growth phase
Organization blending traditional real estate operations with modern, tech-enabled systems
Supportive, collaborative culture with an emphasis on accountability and development
