Position Summary
The Director of Development will be a key member of the VMC team at SmartCentres and will work closely with internal and external consultants to advance approvals across the VMC portfolio. The successful candidate will be managing all aspects of the approval process for residential, mixed-use projects, and commercial projects, motivated by thoughtful design and long-term ownership.
Responsibilities :
- Lead and responsible for multiple high-rise projects throughout the approval process — including planning approvals, design development, and liaison during construction — by working with multi-disciplined consultant teams and various government authorities.
- Maintain appropriate records of architectural, landscape, and engineering plans, as well as approvals, permits, and agreements for each project.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules, meeting minutes, budgets, cost tracking, and assist in other financial reporting.
- Support various internal departments – Sales and Marketing, Construction, Accounting, Legal, and Finance as needed and identify ways to optimize coordination between internal stakeholders.
- Stay current on new industry technologies and trends and municipal standards.
- Help build industry and market presence and awareness.
