MISSION
The Coordinator, Payroll will ensure timely and accurate processing of all assigned payroll sections, including review of automated hours download, processing changes to employee information, cheque distribution, legislated employee remittances and Records of Employment.
KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS
- Accurate and timely completion of all payroll processes
- Adherence to all relevant policy and legislation
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- Customer satisfaction, as evidenced by stakeholder feedback
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Functional
- Collect, review and download all data related to hours worked from relevant systems
- Execute all payroll functions for assigned employee groups
- Receive, review and action employee information changes
- Liaise with client groups regarding payroll issues
- Maintain personnel files, including filing and/or digitizing
- Transmit Records of Employment; respond to all government agency inquiries
- Prepare ad hoc payroll reports
- Prepare or support manual journal entries, as required
- Prepare and distribute relevant payroll documents such as T4s and paystubs
- Respond to external employment verification requests
- Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes
- Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs
- Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigo’s customers
- Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them

Qualifications
Work Experience / Education / Certifications
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or Human Resources
- 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- PCP Certification considered an asset
- Experience with UKG payroll platform preferred
Competencies / Skills / Attributes
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs, specifically Excel and Outlook
- Thorough understanding of all relevant provincial and federal employment legislation
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Superior customer service skills
