Job descriptionA degree in Civil Engineering OR a two-year diploma in Building or Civil Engineering Technology. Registration or eligibility for registration with EGBC or ASTTBC. Minimum of three years’ experience in municipal design and field inspection (waterworks, sewerage, drainage, roads, structures). 7–10 years of proven supervisory and leadership experience. Strong knowledge of the BC Building Code, construction standards, and municipal legislation (Local Government Act, Community Charter). Proficiency with digital platforms and software related to building and infrastructure development. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to interpret and explain building code requirements clearly.

The Opportunity :
In this role, you will oversee a team of 17 staff, ensuring building permit and infrastructure development applications are processed effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. This high-profile leadership position requires strong collaboration, sound judgment, technical expertise, and a proactive approach in working with internal teams, the development industry, and the public.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage the processing of building permits and infrastructure development applications.
- Ensure compliance with municipal regulations, bylaws, and provincial building codes.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of technical staff.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, architects, and contractors to facilitate quality growth and development.
- Represent the municipality in development-related discussions, meetings, and public forums.
