The Opportunity

Ocean Front Village – Long-Term Care | Courtenay, BC

Position Type: Regular Full-Time
Shift Schedule: Day
Shift Times: 8:30am-4:30pm

We’re looking for a permanent, full-time Administrative Assistant to join our team. If you are a strong team player with excellent organization skills, and a passion for providing high quality care and support for seniors, then we’d like to hear from you!


What You'll Do
  • Ordering required office supplies, placing and receiving orders, and maintaining complete inventory.
  • Sending and receiving couriers; Stamping and mailing outgoing correspondence and delivering mail to the post box daily.
  • Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive office filing. system for reference materials, reports and documents.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of current residents, and assisting residents as needed.
  • Under the direction of the Community Manager or designate, assist with managing the accounts payable, accounts receivable and bookkeeping functions as needed.
  • Other duties as directed by the Community Manager or designate.

What You Bring
  • High school graduation and successful completion of Office Procedures or Office Management Coursework; or, an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office; Excel including formulas, Word including formatting, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience in operating and administering an electronic payroll program.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism when dealing with residents and the public.
  • Can effectively multi-task, manage time effectively and prioritize work.
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in Home and Community Care an asset.
  • The ability to anticipate needs and take initiative to complete work in the absence of direct supervision and constant direction.
  • Can provide a negative TB screening test
  • A complete Immunization Record as outlined in the BC Centre for Disease Control for Health Care workers
  • Successful clearance of a vulnerable sector-criminal record check
