Richmond Country Club (RCC) is seeking an experienced, organized, and confident leader to join our team as Head Camp Leader. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to oversee day camp operations and guide a team in delivering exceptional summer experiences for children and families.
The Head Camp Leader plays a critical role in ensuring camp programs run safely, smoothly, and professionally while fostering a positive, energetic, and supportive team culture.
About This Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Member Services, the Head Camp Leader is responsible for the overall supervision, coordination, and administration of camp programs. This role oversees staff leadership, camper safety, program quality, and parent communication while ensuring exceptional service standards are maintained.
The Head Camp Leader provides clear direction to Camp Leaders and serves as the primary point of contact for parents, members, and club departments.
This role requires strong leadership, organization, professionalism, and a commitment to child safety and high-quality programming.
What's Expected From This Role
Camp Leadership & Staff Management
- Lead, supervise, and support Camp Leaders in daily operations
- Set clear expectations for performance, professionalism, and camper care
- Facilitate staff meetings, briefings, and ongoing coaching
- Support conflict resolution and foster a positive, accountable team culture
Camper Supervision & Safety
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and inclusion of all campers
- Oversee supervision across all activities, transitions, and daily routines
- Enforce safety procedures and respond to incidents as needed
- Maintain accurate attendance and ensure proper care standards (hydration, sun safety, etc.)
Program Planning & Activity Oversight
- Oversee delivery of engaging, age-appropriate camp programs
- Plan and execute themed weeks, events, and activities
- Monitor program quality and support activity execution
- Coordinate equipment, facilities, and logistics
Behaviour Management & Camper Support
- Promote positive behaviour and support staff with conflict resolution
- Manage and de-escalate behavioural situations professionally
- Ensure camper dignity, inclusion, and safety at all times
- Communicate concerns and act as a positive role model
Parent & Member Communication
- Act as primary point of contact for parents and guardians
- Communicate updates, concerns, and incidents professionally
- Address inquiries with a solutions-focused, service-oriented approach
- Build strong relationships with member families
Administration & Camp Operations
- Oversee registration, attendance tracking, and camper records
- Manage invoicing, payments, and follow-ups
- Prepare schedules, reports, and program plans
- Complete incident and operational reporting
Food Program & Logistics
- Coordinate meal orders, counts, and dietary needs
- Ensure safe food handling and allergen awareness
- Liaise with Food & Beverage team on scheduling and service
Interdepartmental Coordination
- Collaborate with internal teams on operations and equipment needs
- Liaise with Member Services on administrative support
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Experience working in a camp or youth program setting
- Experience supervising or leading a team
- Experience working with children ages 5–12
- Criminal Record Check
- Standard First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
Preferred:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar leadership role
- Post-secondary education in Recreation, Education, Kinesiology, Child & Youth Care, or a related field
- Experience coordinating programs and staff schedules
- Training in behaviour management and conflict resolution

Schedule Requirements
- Monday – Friday (8:30 am – 4:30 pm)
- Must be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods
