About the Team

Journal is a Tier 0 service powering critical streaming infrastructure for Amazon's most foundational services — including DynamoDB, S3, and EC2 — processing billions of log records daily across all AWS regions.
We manage end-to-end capacity planning, supply chain operations, and infrastructure scaling to support AWS's growing internal customer base.

Role Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Principal Technical Program Manager to lead our infrastructure supply chain and capacity planning initiatives. This role will be instrumental in forecasting demand, planning supply, coordinating with engineering teams to build capacity, and partnering with finance teams to ensure accurate CapEx planning.

We need someone who is ready to get hands on to build and championing AI-powered solutions to solve infrastructure or other challenges

Key Responsibilities

Demand Planning & Forecasting

* Partner with AWS internal customer teams to gather capacity forecasts and understand growth patterns
* Develop and maintain demand models that accurately predict infrastructure needs across multiple quarters
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate capacity planning inputs

Supply Chain Management

* Own end-to-end EC2 hardware procurement lifecycle — from demand signal to delivery — coordinating with EC2 stakeholders, engineering teams.
* Optimize supply chain processes to reduce lead times and improve efficiency
* Track and manage hardware inventory, ensuring alignment between supply and demand

Finance Partnership & CapEx Planning

* Liaise with finance partners to ensure correct capacity orders planning against OP1 CapEx budgets
* Develop accurate financial models that align infrastructure capacity needs with approved CapEx allocations
* Drive OP1 planning cycles by providing detailed capacity forecasts and cost projections
* Partner with finance to build OP1 narratives and present capacity investment cases to senior leadership
* Identify and resolve discrepancies between capacity requirements and financial projections
* Ensure financial accountability and optimize CapEx utilization across infrastructure investments

Capacity Build & Engineering Coordination

* Work closely with engineering teams to plan and execute capacity builds
* Drive cross-functional alignment between infrastructure, software, and operations teams
* Ensure capacity deployment meets quality, timeline, and cost objectives

Program Leadership

* Own the end-to-end infrastructure supply chain charter for Journal
* Influence infrastructure strategy across Journal's 8+ engineering teams and partner organizations, driving alignment on capacity priorities and supply chain standards
* Develop and implement processes that simplify customer experience and improve operational efficiency
* Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual overhead and improve scalability
* Create metrics and dashboards to provide visibility into capacity health, supply chain performance, and financial tracking

Strategic Planning

* Develop long-term capacity strategies aligned with Journal's growth trajectory and financial constraints
* Identify risks and develop mitigation plans for supply chain disruptions and budget variances
* Lead deprecation and migration programs as infrastructure evolves
* Drive cost optimization initiatives to maximize infrastructure efficiency

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience in verbal and written communication for executive level leaders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
