Who you are :
We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior Data Platform Developer who will support the existing big data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform ensuring data is continuously and promptly available for analysis by the data science team. What you'll do :
Lead the development and scaling of a high-performance distributed Map Server Platform on Google Cloud Platform, capable of handling over 1.5 billion requests per day and delivering critical map-related information to key Geotab systems. Architect and implement enhancements to the platform, optimizing data processing and ensuring high availability and reliability for supporting core features of Geotab's products. Devise innovative methodologies and infrastructure improvements to enrich and efficiently manage map data at scale, while maintaining continuous data availability for critical analysis and operational needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and internal users, to integrate and leverage the Map Server Platform, enhancing the overall data ecosystem within Geotab. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on system performance tuning, cost optimization, and stability enhancements. Serve as a technical lead and mentor for junior developers, promoting best practices in software development, scalable architecture, and data integration. Excel as a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills, exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, and a keen aptitude for grasping complex technical concepts quickly.
How you'll make an impact
- Develop and maintain new data infrastructure platforms managing the data ingestion, digestion, orchestration and applications.
- Develop processes to enrich Geotab's big data with telematics data at scale.
- Develop processes and implement logging, monitoring, and alerting services to ensure the health of Geotab's big data infrastructure.
- Work with data scientists to understand data processing needs and develop infrastructure solutions to support these initiatives.
- Create and maintain documentation for architecture, requirements, and process flows.
- Support internal Geotab teams to assist with data integration with newly developed big data platforms.
