The Role

Are you a detail-oriented editor with a passion for content strategy and freelancer management? Wise Publishing is looking for an Assigning Editor to oversee the assignment, management, and quality assurance of content produced by freelancers—primarily focused on syndicated news. This role is crucial in ensuring our content meets high editorial and business standards while managing freelancer resources effectively. As part of the Content Strategy team, you’ll also ideate eye-catching headlines and stories that will drive engagement.

You’ll manage a network of freelancers, assign stories, and oversee content performance to ensure high-quality, engaging, and monetizable syndicated news articles. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with Product and Content Monetization teams to source freelance talent and optimize content for performance.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities) :

• Assign and prioritize syndicated news tasks for freelancers, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Ideate story topics and headlines, managing editorial calendars for timely delivery.
• Write strong, attention-grabbing headlines that fit our proven formats
• Provide concise, clear briefs that guide freelancers toward successful execution.
• Collaborate with Associate Editors and Content Monetization Specialists on strategy.
• Track content performance, provide freelancer feedback, and maintain a freelancer database.
• Manage freelancer budgets and support invoicing processes.
• Onboard and support freelancers, ensuring alignment with editorial guidelines.
