Job description

Title: Repair Technician

Location: Richmond Hill, ON (L4B 0B5) – On-Site

Shift time: 7:30am – 4:00pm, Monday - Friday

Position Status: Permanent, Full-time

Position Summary

The Computer Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and refurbishing computer systems and related hardware. This role includes performing warranty and non-warranty repairs, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, testing system functionality, and salvaging usable components from non-repairable devices. The technician ensures all work meets quality, safety, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices
  • Perform repairs on eligible warranty units and initiate warranty claims where applicable
  • Replace faulty components using available inventory when warranty coverage is not applicable
  • Conduct functional testing to ensure repaired systems meet performance and quality standards
  • Identify non-repairable devices and salvage usable parts for inventory reuse
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, parts used, and system configurations
  • Follow established repair workflows, SOPs, and safety procedures (e.g., ESD handling, PPE requirements)
  • Clean, inspect, and validate functionality of devices prior to release or resale
  • Support inventory management by properly labeling, organizing, and storing parts
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team leads to meet daily production and turnaround targets
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Computer Technology, Electronics, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–3 years of experience in computer repair or IT hardware support
  • Strong understanding of PC hardware, components, and system architecture
  • Experience troubleshooting operating systems (Windows, macOS preferred)
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair software effectively
  • Familiarity with warranty processes and OEM repair standards

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Job specific training in identification, classification of materials and procedure of operations
  • Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of computer components and how they work

Working Conditions

  • Warehouse Setting.
  • Must wear required PPE.
