Description

Commercial Auto Adjuster

Remote (Toronto-area) | Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: $60,000 – $80,000

About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-established, Canadian-owned specialty insurance carrier searching for a skilled Commercial Auto Adjuster. Our client has been a respected player in the Canadian P&C market for over four decades, offering innovative solutions across specialty lines distributed through brokers, TPAs, and agents nationwide.

This is a great opportunity for a claims professional looking to grow within a dynamic, close-knit team that values both autonomy and collaboration. The position is primarily remote, with occasional in-office presence in Toronto as needed.

The Role

As a Commercial Auto Adjuster, you will manage a portfolio of commercial automobile physical damage, property damage, and motor truck cargo liability files from first notice through resolution. You will be the key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and will be accountable for the full claims lifecycle — from coverage confirmation and investigation through to settlement, mediation, and litigation management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and drive investigations and resolutions of physical damage, cargo, environmental, and property damage claims across Canada and the USA
  • Confirm coverages, analyze liability and quantum, and negotiate settlements
  • Handle pre-trials, mediations, and litigation management
  • Coordinate and follow up with insureds, claimants, external vendors, and legal counsel to gather documentation and updates
  • Maintain accurate and timely claims activity within internal claims management systems
  • Ensure strict compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and audit standards throughout the claims process
  • Manage high-volume documentation workflows with precision and care

What You Bring

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial automobile claims experience (Cargo Experience is Required)
  • Post secondary education, or CIP designation (or working toward it)
  • Strong investigative mindset with the ability to think laterally and problem-solve
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Windows applications, Outlook, and comfort with claims or administrative systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and regulatory compliance

Working Conditions

  • Primarily remote work environment; ability to come into the Toronto office occasionally is an asset
  • Some travel required for mediations and pre-trials
  • Collaborative, supportive team culture with significant autonomy
