About Able Innovations

At Able Innovations, we are redefining how patients are moved in healthcare environments. Our powered transfer platform enables smoother, safer, and more dignified patient mobility - empowering healthcare teams and protecting caregivers from injury.

We are currently active in hospitals across Canada and growing. As we expand, we are looking for a people-oriented Implementation Specialist who can help healthcare teams adopt and embrace this technology with confidence.

About the position

Able Innovations is seeking a highly organized and resourceful Supply Chain Coordinator to support the purchasing, inventory, logistics, and supplier activities behind our robotic medical device platform. You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Operations to ensure components and materials are available when needed, orders are tracked accurately, and supplier issues are resolved quickly.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-growing hardware and medical device startup. You will collaborate daily with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and business leaders to ensure our cutting-edge technology gets built and delivered seamlessly. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing day-to-day purchasing activities while also helping improve supplier relationships, inventory controls, documentation, and supply chain processes as the company scales.

Key focus areas include:

  • End-to-End Orchestration: Tracking, scheduling, and optimizing orders for high-tech components.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Acting as the primary liaison between key suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure quality and strict deadline compliance.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Identifying new suppliers, optimizing costs, negotiating payment terms, and executing onshoring strategies to build a resilient supply chain.
  • Documentation Management: Ensuring that all logistics and payment documentation are recorded and stored appropriately.

This role is based in Toronto, ON, and is 100% on-site.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, issue, track, and close purchase orders, while following up with suppliers on confirmations, lead times, delays, and delivery dates.
  • Coordinate purchasing requirements with Engineering and Manufacturing based on bills of materials, production schedules, technical specifications, and changing priorities.
  • Monitor inventory levels, material availability, reorder requirements, shortages, excess stock, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including couriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, commercial invoices, packing lists, HS codes, and other shipping documentation.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships, obtain quotations, negotiate pricing and payment terms, and support the identification and qualification of new suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate supplier, purchasing, inventory, pricing, logistics, and documentation records within ERP systems, and internal trackers.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including certificates, traceability documentation, non-conforming materials, returns, replacements, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare regular updates on open orders, late deliveries, material risks, supplier performance, and inventory status, while identifying opportunities to reduce cost, lead times, and supply chain risk.

You will be successful if you are:

  • Passionate about healthcare technology and innovation.
  • A clear communicator.
  • Resourceful, organized, and thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Able to translate complex logistics updates into clear, actionable information for both engineers and business leaders.
  • A problem solver with a critical mind and a strong sense of personal accountability for the company's success.
  • Detail-Obsessed - you possess a sharp eye for accuracy, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks when it comes to order tracking, regulatory compliance, and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree / Diploma in Supply Chain management, Business Administration, Technology, Office Management, or similar related fields
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in supply chain / procurement. Prior work in the automotive / hardware / medical device industry, preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of business-level purchasing workflows, organized inventory control, and systematic supply chain logistics.
  • Ability to work with bills of materials, technical drawings, component specifications, or manufacturing documentation.
  • Solid understanding of customs clearance processes, international trade agreements (e.g., USMCA), and the accurate selection of HS Codes.
  • Exposure to / experience with ERP software implementation.
  • Strong comfort working with numbers, data tracking, and executing basic financial/numerical calculations with high precision.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to self-prioritize, manage time effectively, and collaborate seamlessly across engineering and business teams.

Bonus Skills (Nice-to-haves):

  • Professional fluency in Mandarin.
  • Past experience navigating the fast-paced, ambiguous environment of an early-stage or scaling startup.
  • Experience working within tech-heavy, hardware, or medical device manufacturing environments.

Application Requirements

Please submit your resume and cover letter as a PDF document with the naming format "SCC2607_Firstname_Lastname". Please also include any relevant projects/portfolios.
