Job description

The Opportunity

The Procurement Specialist reporting to the Director, Strategic Partnership & Wholesale Operations, will support procurement, supplier, and contract manufacturing activities across the organization. This role is responsible for sourcing raw materials and bulk flower products, managing supplier and CMO relationships, monitoring purchasing and production performance, analyzing costs and spend trends, and identifying opportunities for savings and process improvements. The incumbent will prepare reports, forecasts, and KPI analyses to support supply chain decisions while collaborating with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, Finance, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure supply requirements are met.

Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Support the procurement of raw materials, API components.

  • Analyze purchasing data, supplier pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and spend trends.

  • Support Bulk flower purchases and sales for both domestic and international markets.

  • Support supplier selection, qualification, onboarding, and ongoing performance management.

  • Monitor purchase orders, delivery schedules, pricing, and supplier commitments.

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier consolidation, and process improvements.

  • Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, contract, and purchasing information as well as tracking information of all orders.

  • Support negotiations with suppliers by preparing spend analyses, market comparisons, and cost models.

CMO Management

  • Support the management of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and external manufacturing partners.

  • Track CMO production plans, capacity, lead times, costs, and delivery performance.

  • Coordinate with CMOs on purchase orders, production schedules, material requirements, and shipment timelines.

  • Monitor CMO performance against agreed service levels, budgets, quality requirements, and delivery commitments.

  • Assist with CMO onboarding, business reviews, contract updates, and commercial negotiations including compiling the Contracts.

  • Identify and escalate potential supply, capacity, cost, or delivery risks.

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, cost variance, purchase price variance, supplier performance, and CMO utilization.

  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support procurement and supply chain decisions.

  • Maintain accurate forecasts and scenario analysis related to supplier and manufacturing capacity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, Finance, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure supply requirements are met.

  • Support demand and supply planning activities.

Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing or agriculture setting.

  • Experience sourcing raw materials, packaging, ingredients, API components, or manufactured products.

  • Demonstrated success managing supplier relationships, including onboarding, performance management, and issue resolution.

  • Experience supporting domestic and international procurement activities.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess spend, pricing, lead times, MOQs, and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Experience supporting supplier negotiations through spend analysis, market research, and cost modeling.

  • Knowledge of purchase order management, inventory replenishment, delivery scheduling, and contract administration.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel skills.
