  • Create a warm, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, cooperation, and mutual respect among children.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, such as storytelling, arts and crafts, games, and music, to engage children and make learning enjoyable.
  • Guide and facilitate children's learning experiences, providing individualized attention and support to meet their unique needs and learning styles.
  • Assess children's progress through informal observation, formative assessments, and feedback, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for children, ensuring their well-being during classroom activities, outdoor play, field trips, and excursions.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and program coordinators to develop and enhance curriculum materials, teaching resources, and program content.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on their child's progress, share insights, and address any concerns or questions.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, promoting effective communication and teamwork within the program.
  • Adhere to VanWest College's policies, procedures, and code of conduct, promoting a professional and nurturing work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (or currently pursuing a degree in these fields). Equivalent experience and certifications may be considered.
  • Prior experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development theories, teaching methodologies, and classroom management strategies suitable for children aged 7-11.
  • Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment, fostering children's curiosity, imagination, and love for learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with children, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm to engage children through interactive and hands-on activities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of the summer program, including participating in outdoor activities and field trips.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, sharing ideas and resources to enhance the program experience.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in additional languages is an asset.

If you have a passion for working with children, a commitment to their holistic development, and want to contribute to an unforgettable summer experience, we encourage you to apply for the position of Seasonal Kids Program Teacher at VanWest College. Please submit your resume, cover letter, and any other relevant documents to the provided application email or website.
