Job description

Securicare is hiring Security Guards to support our Healthcare operations within the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) portfolio in North Vancouver.

In this role, you will help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include monitoring access points, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, and supporting healthcare teams in a busy clinical setting. This position requires strong awareness, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm in fast-paced environments.

Pay Rate: $21/hr
Location: Lion's Gate Hospital (LGH)

Duties & Responsibilities

Monitor entrances and control access to ensure only authorized individuals enter the facility
Conduct regular patrols of both interior and exterior areas to identify risks and deter unauthorized activity
Respond to incidents such as disturbances, safety concerns, and medical emergencies
Follow established procedures for emergencies, including lockdowns and evacuations
Interact respectfully with patients, visitors, and staff while addressing concerns or conflicts
Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations safely
Monitor CCTV, alarms, and other security systems for unusual or suspicious activity
Complete clear and accurate incident reports and notify appropriate personnel as required
Work alongside healthcare staff to support safety and respond to incidents
Communicate with emergency services and law enforcement when necessary

Requirements

Valid BC Security Guard License with Advanced Security Training (AST) certification
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (MORB) certificate is an asset
Minimum 1 year of security experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively in a healthcare setting
Ability to stay calm under pressure with strong observation and problem-solving skills
Ability to complete detailed reports, multitask, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Basic computer skills for report writing and documentation
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Community Justice Services, or Law Enforcement is an asset
