Job description
Job Description

Champagne Bartender

This summer, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is launching an exclusive pop-up champagne bar — a curated experience built around exceptional bubbles and thoughtfully paired bites.

As our Champagne Bar Bartender, you are the architect behind the bar. You'll manage a focused selection of prestige and grower champagnes — handling service, presentation, and the rhythm of a high-touch operation — while creating the kind of confident, unhurried atmosphere that invites guests to linger and explore.

This is a role for someone who brings both technical precision and genuine champagne knowledge to the bar — someone who understands that in a concept this focused, every pour carries the full weight of the guest experience.

Join us in turning moments into special memories at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

What’s in It for You

  • Seasonal full-time role from May 2026, to September 2026
  • Competitive pay starting at $23.12/hour, increasing to $28.90/hour after successful completion of the probationary period
  • Complimentary meals during shifts through our Colleague Dining Program
  • An inclusive, empowering, and positive company culture where people are at the heart of everything we do
  • Exclusive access to the Pacific Northwest Food & Beverage Discount Program (up to 50% off at select Vancouver, Victoria & Whistler dining destinations)
  • Learning programs through our Academies to sharpen your skills
  • Opportunities to have fun at work alongside passionate hospitality professionals committed to making the world more welcoming
  • The chance to work in a luxury hotel environment within a heritage building with a legacy dating back to 1939
  • Opportunities to make a positive impact through Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver warm, engaging, and personalized service in our pop-up champagne bar space
  • Guide guests through food, wine, and cocktail menus with confidence and enthusiasm
  • Provide detailed knowledge of menu items, preparation methods, and beverage pairings
  • Create memorable experiences in the centre of the hotels lobby within our pop-up space
  • Anticipate guest needs and tailor service style to suit the environment and occasion
  • Ensure timely, accurate delivery of food and beverages with attention to detail
  • Maintain mise en place and ensure all service areas are prepared for seamless execution
  • Support service flow through food running, clearing, resetting tables, and bar support as needed
  • Assist with private dining, events, and lounge service as required
  • Collaborate closely with kitchen and bar teams to ensure a cohesive guest experience
  • Follow all outlet policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years of experience behind the bar in an upscale restaurant, lounge, or cocktail bar environment
  • Serving It Right certification
  • Strong knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails (classic and contemporary)
  • Engaging personality with a genuine passion for guest service
  • Ability to adapt service style between refined dining and elevated bar settings
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in presentation
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience with POS systems is an asset
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Applicants must be able to commit to the full seasonal period (May through September 2026).

Physical Aspects

  • Constant standing and walking throughout the shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Regular kneeling, pushing, and pulling
  • Frequent ascending and descending stairs and ramps
  • Ability to carry multiple plates and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
