Job description

The leading cosmetics manufacturing company is looking for Automation Technician to join the team.

Location: Scarborough (Warden & Eglinton)

Shift: Afternoon: 3 PM to 11 PM

Full-time- Monday to Friday, frequent overtime on Saturdays

Pay rate: $25/hr + 4% vacation pay

Key Accountabiliites:

  • Operates and maintains all equipment following SOPs, and GMP and follows all safety procedures (PPE, emergency stops, guarding, and lockouts), and ensures complete documentation and administration reports, including updating the computerized production tracking system.
  • Perform changeover, Cleaning & Sanitization on Automated & Manual equipment following Master Filling Packaging Specifications & perform generic filling duties as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair process automation problems, and equipment failures to ensure production downtime is kept to a minimum, including root cause analysis.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, slowdowns, and peak demands throughout the production process and directly intervene to maintain a smooth flow to achieve output.
  • Interpret the Overall Equipment Efficiency system to improve the processes.
  • Work with the designated team/person in the design stage of processes both for set-up and current production projects.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust the process based on upstream & downstream production needs.
  • Keeping the work area organized and clean following the 5S principles.
  • Perform regular autonomous maintenance activities, including maintaining adequate stock of consumable machine parts & supplies.
  • Provide training to operators to increase efficiency.
  • Visually inspects product and components for obvious defects during the process, reporting any defect to the Quality Inspector.
  • Participate in meetings with supervisors, co-workers, and employees to plan upcoming activities and to update projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience, and Education Required:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is a must, experience in a similar role and industry and/or Post-Secondary education is an asset.
  • 1-2 years experience with high school diploma/equivalent; little to no experience required with Advanced Diploma in Electro-Mechanical, Mechanical, or Automation.
  • Team-oriented and self-directed.
  • Committed to Quality, Safety, and Communication.
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn.

Requirements:

  • Back: Regular lifting or carrying loads (20-50lbs).
  • Standing for long periods.
  • Flexible for overtime.
