Job description

Job Title: Senior QA Automation Engineer (API focus)

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Duration: 06-12 Months

Job Description:

This role involves implementing and supporting QA architectural artifacts, testing systems, and their feedback loops. The candidate will be responsible for creating process artifacts that detail the quality controls and test mechanisms across the entire SDLC. The position requires the implementation of scalable and maintainable testing strategies across various use cases, including web, mobile, data engineering, and AI. The candidate will also contribute to and maintain organization-wide architecture decision records and support the delivery and maintenance of QA engineering policies, procedures, and standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in API automation.
  • Extensive knowledge of automated testing tools and frameworks like Karate, Rest Assured, and Postman.
  • Experience in the eCommerce domain.
  • Understanding of programming languages and frameworks such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, SpringBoot, ReactJS, NextJS, TailwindCSS, etc.
  • Proven experience with CI/CD processes and building quality controls into each step of the SDLC.
  • Experience with ITSM (ITIL v4) controls and processes.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker/ContainerD, Kubernetes, and related tools.
  • Understanding of REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architecture principles.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Educated to degree level in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant industry experience.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of diagramming tools and methodologies like Miro, Diagrams.net, Figjam, Mermaid.JS, etc.
  • Experience in backend tooling, frameworks, their application, quality gating, and measurement.
  • Experience in technology stack/services consultancy and selection in accordance with technical and quality requirements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Help with and implement our QA architectural artifacts.
  • Support our QA operational practices and drive eCommerce and company-wide quality automation projects.
  • Govern, train, and evangelize good tests versus bad tests at each testing level.
  • Drive best-in-class QA strategies to ensure our customers love what we do for them.
