Payroll & Benefits Administrator (1-Year Contract)

About the Opportunity

Pivotal is hiring an experienced Payroll & Benefits Administrator to support a confidential client in a well-established, multi-site organization with a safety-focused, hourly workforce.

This is a one-year contract opportunity for someone who is ready to make an immediate impact and become a valued member of the team. While this is a contract position, future opportunities may become available.

The successful candidate will support operational, skilled trades, and administrative employees. Experience with unionized environments, shift schedules, and time-sensitive payroll is highly preferred.

The Role

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, employee records, benefits administration, reporting, and payroll-related inquiries.

The ideal candidate has experience processing payroll for unionized hourly employees, including 12-hour shifts, overtime, shift premiums, and other schedule-based pay rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accurate bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and verify timesheets, pay rates, and payroll changes.
  • Calculate overtime, vacation pay, shift premiums, bonuses, deductions, and payroll adjustments.
  • Administer payroll for rotating and non-standard work schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, collective agreements, and company policies.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
  • Partner with HR and Finance on payroll and benefits administration.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of payroll and benefits administration experience.
  • Experience processing payroll in a unionized hourly environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with 12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, overtime, and shift premiums is an asset.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • PCP designation is considered an asset.

Work Arrangement

  • Full-time, onsite position based in Scarborough, Ontario.
  • Travel between two nearby work locations is required.

Compensation

$65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Pivotal is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourages all qualified candidates to apply. Accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process.
