What The Job Involves

  • Use your knowledge of ASIC design to architect and define next‑generation memory safe CPU architectures
  • Create highly advanced architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and / or system simulations. Collaborate with other experienced architects and RTL designers to seed, assess and iterate these ideas.
  • Undertake end‑to‑end CPU design—from high‑level conceptual modelling to RTL development and performance verification.
  • Innovate novel architectural features (e.g. memory safety, speculative execution, out‑of‑order pipelines, branch prediction, custom ISA extensions)
  • Model and evaluate all aspects of the highly complex process flow, from high‑level design to synthesis, place and route, timing and power use, and verification
  • Evaluate trade‑offs between architectural complexity and power / performance benefits
  • Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams (e.g. software, SOC, verification, R&D, security, etc.) to optimize your designs
  • Contribute to roadmap planning, design reviews, and silicon bring‑up
  • Write detailed technical documentation; reviews technical documentation for peers and other engineers.
  • This is a Hybrid role, with a mixture of working from SECQAI’s office in London or Bristol, and at home
  • We know how important it is to build in a customer‑centric way, so you may be asked to travel to meet SECQAI’s customers and partners in person
  • Maintaining the highest standards of integrity : you’ll protect SECQAI’s operations and that of our clients by maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Required

    Who you are

  • You have a B.Eng. / B.Sc., M.Eng. / M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
  • You have 5+ years of relevant CPU design experience
  • You have a proven track record in architecting or contributing significantly to high‑performance CPU design
  • You have an up‑to‑date knowledge of industry‑standard design tools from leading providers (e.g. Cadence, Synopsys, OpenRoad)
  • You’re inquisitive and a self‑starter. You love learning, solving problems outside of your comfort zone, starting new things and taking them through to production, all the while learning from your mistakes
  • You enjoy collaborating with and supporting a wide range of peers and mentors
  • You set a high bar for your own work (both how it works, and how it looks)
  • Desirable

  • You have experience working with RISC‑V & CHERI ISAs
  • You have taken a design from conceptualisation through to tape‑out
  • You’re interested in building secure systems and platforms, and have knowledge of relevant security standards
