We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience to join an established company in the furniture manufacturing and distribution industry. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations and month-end closing processes across the company's subsidiaries, helping maintain accurate financial records and support ongoing business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle and operate daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank transactions.
• Record and reconcile credit card expenses and cash expenses transactions accurately and on a timely basis.
• Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, accounting adjustments and reconcile intercompany transactions across different subsidiaries.
• Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll accurately and on a timely basis. Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Prepare payroll-related reports and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end closing.
• Assist with and take ownership of the month-end closing process, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Review general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactions.
• Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation for monthly reporting.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Prepare, review, and submit government remittances and filings, including HST, WSIB, EHT, and other applicable statutory obligations.
• Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger processes.
• Proven experience with month-end closing and financial reconciliations.
• Hands-on experience with an ERP/accounting system.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis.
• Good understanding of accounting systems and related IT applications and processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate their root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Experience working with Microsoft Dynamic 365, AX 2009, or QuickBooks.
• Experience working with integrations between ERP systems and other business applications.
• Professional accounting designation or progress toward a designation (e.g., CPA) is an asset.
