Job description

Join Our Team as a Facility Manager!

We are seeking a dependable and professional Facility Manager to join our team at a club (swimming pool, gym) in North Vancouver. The Facility Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the facility. This role includes overseeing building services, coordinating maintenance activities, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Additionally, the Facility Manager will take an active role in maintaining facility cleanliness and conducting regular patrols to uphold high standards of hygiene and equipment functionality.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Maintenance:

  • Oversee daily operations of the facility, ensuring all systems function efficiently.
  • Schedule and manage regular maintenance, repairs, and inspections (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • Develop and implement facility management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper functionality of workspaces.

Cleaning & Facility Hygiene:

  • Perform cleaning duties in areas that require attention when not occupied with other facility management tasks.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the facility, with a focus on fitness areas, to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Ensure cleaning standards are upheld, preventing cleanliness-related issues due to increased service demands.
  • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed.

Vendor & Contract Management:

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with service providers, including cleaning, security, and maintenance teams.
  • Supervise third-party vendors to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Monitor budgets and control costs related to facility operations.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations related to building safety, fire codes, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols.
  • Respond to facility-related emergencies and coordinate solutions efficiently.

Fitness & Pool Facility Oversight:

  • Regularly patrol the fitness area to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Maintain a visible presence to enhance security, cleanliness, and customer experience.
  • Ensure proper upkeep and safety of the pool area, adhering to health regulations.
  • Certified Swimming Pool Operator (CPO) course completion is required to oversee pool maintenance and water quality standards.

Security & Emergency Preparedness:

  • Ensure the security of the facility, including monitoring access control and surveillance systems.
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and disaster recovery plans.

Requirements:

  • Certified Swimming Pool Operator (CPO) course completion required, or willingness to obtain certification upon hiring.
  • 2–3 years of experience in facility management, building operations, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security).
  • Ability to manage budgets, vendors, and maintenance teams effectively.
  • Strong administrative skills (preparing weekly reports, working on facility projects independently).
  • Hands-on approach to facility cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in facility management software.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Salary: $24/hour

Start Date: May

Experience: Building Manager (2 years preferred), Handyman (1 year preferred)
