Job Title: Project Manager – Banking (Contract)
Location: Halifax, Canada

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with 7+ years of experience to lead and deliver complex initiatives within the banking domain. This is a contract role based in Halifax, focused on driving end-to-end project execution, stakeholder alignment, and successful delivery within scope, budget, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of banking-related projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Define project scope, goals, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Manage cross-functional teams including business analysts, developers, QA, and external vendors.
  • Establish and maintain project governance, reporting structures, and communication plans.
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies, and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including senior leadership, to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations, internal policies, and security standards.
  • Track project performance using appropriate tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and best practices.

Must Have Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in project management, with a strong focus on the banking or financial services domain.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering medium to large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of banking systems, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing full project lifecycle (initiation to closure).
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong risk management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with project management tools such as JIRA, MS Project, or similar.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is highly preferred.

Good to Have

  • Experience working with Canadian banking institutions or regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with digital banking, payments, or core banking transformation projects.
  • Exposure to data analytics, reporting tools, or cloud-based platforms.
  • Knowledge of change management practices and tools.
  • Experience in vendor and contract management.
  • Scrum Master or Agile certifications are an asset.
