Location: Waterloo – Hybrid

Role Summary

The Workday Technical Analyst - support projects, enhancements, and functional strategies across the Workday tenant. In this role, you will translate business problems into scalable technical solutions while promoting best practices. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the ERP platform, support multiple Workday modules, and deliver reusable, high-quality solutions that enhance enterprise efficiency. This position provides exposure to IT teams, business stakeholders, and compliance partners while maintaining a mission-critical system.

Responsibilities

1) Workday Integrations & Configuration

  • Support and execute standard Workday integrations and configurations across various modules.
  • Run technical reports, analyze results, gather logs, and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Develop custom reports to support business and audit requirements.
  • Ensure all Workday configurations meet technical, functional, and compliance standards.

2) Security, Compliance & Regulatory Reporting

  • Provide compliance-focused reporting and testing support for Internal Audit, SOX, Risk, and Compliance teams.
  • Assist in designing and maintaining compliance-driven configurations, such as approval workflows.
  • Support role-based security models, segregation of duties (SoD), and access reviews.

3) Technical Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution

  • Reproduce technical issues and create detailed Workday support cases.
  • Identify root causes, gather logs, and collaborate with senior engineers for resolution.
  • Validate fixes, updates, and configuration changes across test and production environments.

4) Workday Technical Development

  • Expand proficiency in Workday technical components, including Studio Integrations, EIBs, Core Connectors, Custom Objects, Calculated Fields, and integration patterns.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technical approaches for each business use case.
  • Contribute to performance tuning, integration optimization, and automation initiatives.

5) Testing & Technical Validation

  • Participate in technical testing cycles, including unit testing, regression testing, and ad hoc validation.
  • Interpret technical outputs and present results in clear, user-friendly formats (reports, documentation, summaries).

6) Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Analyze processes continuously for improvement opportunities (e.g., workflow enhancements, integration efficiency, monitoring improvements).
  • Recommend enhancements to SOPs, controls, tools, documentation, and operational metrics.
  • Support system operations, including monitoring, maintenance, and Workday technical best practices.

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Required

  • 2+ years of experience with an ERP platform, delivering technical or functional projects at the enterprise level.
  • Basic programming ability in at least one language (Java, C#, C++, Python, etc.).
  • Understanding of compliance-driven configurations, including SOX workflows and audit/reporting needs.
  • Familiarity with secure handling of sensitive data, including designing integrations that protect PII.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and SDLC tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong analytical thinking, technical troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

Preferred

  • Workday Pro Certification or experience with a Workday Partner (highly preferred).
  • Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, government, public companies).
  • Knowledge of Workday role-based security (domains, business process security policies, SoD frameworks).
  • Understanding of Workday reporting for auditors, regulators, and compliance teams.
  • Strong communication skills and sound judgment, balancing short-term needs with long-term strategy.
