Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will analyze technical documentation, calculate precise production costs, and collaborate across engineering and supply chain teams to build competitive, profitable project bids.

Key Responsibilities

Blueprint & Specification Analysis: Review technical drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOM) to define exact project scopes and manufacturing requirements.

Cost Modeling & Calculation: Quantify expenses across raw materials, machine run times, direct labor, finishing, and operational overhead to ensure accurate job costing.

Supplier & Purchasing Coordination: Partner closely with procurement to source up-to-date pricing for specialty parts, hardware, and raw materials.

Data & Yield Optimization: Maintain and audit internal cost databases, tracking historical expenditure, material yields, and production benchmarks to refine future estimations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside engineers, production managers, and sales teams to resolve design discrepancies and build winning, cost-effective bids.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Analytical & Mathematical Acumen: Strong quantitative skills with a sharp eye for identifying cost discrepancies, volume discounts, and scope gaps.

Technical Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and hands-on experience with ERP systems or manufacturing estimation software.

Manufacturing & Workflow Literacy: Solid grasp of core factory workflows, machining/fabrication processes, and supply chain fundamentals.

Communication & Precision: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical data into clear financial summaries.

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on industry experience).

Pay rate for this role is between $22.00 - $28.00 per hour dependant on experience.
