Job description
Job Description

Are you someone who thrives on organization, problem-solving, and keeping operations running at peak performance? As a Maintenance Planner, you’ll play a critical role at the heart of our operations—driving efficiency, minimizing downtime, and ensuring our equipment and teams are always set up for success.

This is more than a planning role—it’s an opportunity to own processes, lead coordination across teams, and make a visible impact every single day.

What You’ll Be Doing

Own the Plan, Drive the Execution

  • Build and manage maintenance schedules across all shifts, ensuring seamless coordination of preventive and corrective work
  • Create, prioritize, and track work orders through our ERP system
  • Continuously optimize our maintenance program to improve reliability and reduce downtime

Be the Connector Between Teams

  • Act as the key link between maintenance, production, and planning to align operational priorities
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure work is completed efficiently and to standard
  • Communicate updates, performance metrics, and priorities clearly across departments

Lead Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Define project scopes, gather quotes, and support approval processes
  • Manage service contracts, vendor performance, and associated costs
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, parts availability, and overall maintenance efficiency

Keep Operations Running Smoothly

  • Anticipate needs through MRP planning and forecasting to ensure critical parts are always available
  • Adjust schedules in real-time to respond to breakdowns and urgent operational needs
  • Support maintenance shutdown planning and provide hands-on assistance during critical projects (including winter rebuilds)

Be the Go-To Technical Resource

  • Research equipment manuals, specifications, and new part alternatives
  • Estimate labor and material costs for maintenance activities
  • Ensure teams have the tools, parts, and technical information needed to succeed

What Makes This Role Exciting

  • High Impact: Your work directly influences uptime, efficiency, and production success
  • Variety: No two days are the same—balance planning, problem-solving, and hands-on support
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams and experienced trades professionals
  • Ownership: Take the lead on processes, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives

Additional Details

  • Occasional flexibility is required to support emergencies or critical maintenance activities outside regular hours
  • You may step in to support parts management, inventory validation, and receiving when needed
  • Other related responsibilities may be assigned as part of a dynamic and evolving environment

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in maintenance planning within a manufacturing environment, including creating and managing work orders
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as D365 and Microsoft AX (highly preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with purchasing processes and vendor management, including sourcing, negotiating, and coordinating services
  • Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical components, with the ability to identify parts and support technical decisions
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and execution skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to safely operate industrial equipment such as forklifts, man lifts, and other material handling equipment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and work collaboratively toward shared goals
