Program Director – Lead a Vessel Construction Program

Eagle Craft Special Projects, a division of EagleCraft Boats and part of the Bryton Marine Group, is seeking a seasoned Program Director to lead the execution of a three‑year marine construction project in Campbell River, BC. This is a high‑impact, career‑defining opportunity to oversee a multi‑vessel program within a respected marine industry leader.

Supported by the resources and expertise of the Bryton Marine Group, you will have the autonomy to design and implement program management systems from the ground up, lead a team of 70 professionals and craftspeople, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure compliance and safety standards, all while fostering a high‑performance, collaborative culture. As the leader of this program, you will play a pivotal role in delivering operational excellence and driving innovation throughout the life of this project.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement program execution strategy, including work breakdown structure and comprehensive project plan.
  • Establish performance metrics, milestones, and reporting mechanisms for budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Deliver vessels within contractual timelines and budget constraints, ensuring adherence to client requirements.
  • Oversee cost forecasting, variance analysis, and earned value management to maintain financial control.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team (Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Production Manager, Finance, HR Manager) and foster a high‑performance culture.
  • Manage vessel construction end‑to‑end, including hull fabrication, mechanical, electrical, interior, and control systems integration.
  • Coordinate with classification societies and regulatory agencies (e.g., IACS society and Transport Canada) to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee design, construction, and in‑water commissioning operations for successful delivery.
  • Recruit, train, and retain skilled trades and technical talent in a competitive labour market.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, ensuring strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, and financial risks throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Uphold occupational health and safety standards and enforce compliance across all operations.
  • Capture and institutionalize best practices, driving continuous improvement and process innovation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in marine, shipbuilding, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (postgraduate or PMP / PgMP preferred).
  • Proven leadership of large, multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Strong financial, technical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
  • Benefits

Competitive salary + benefits + stay bonus + relocation bonus.
