Job description

The Offord Centre for Child Studies within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University are leaders in advancing child and youth mental health research. Based in Hamilton, Ontario and affiliated with McMaster University, Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster Children’s Hospital, our teams bring together faculty researchers and staff committed to improving outcomes for children, families, and communities.

Through innovative research, compassionate, person- and family-centred care and comprehensive education, our teams focus on research that will shape policy and systems locally and globally. Together, we are dedicated to advancing knowledge and making a meaningful impact across the lifespan.

Working alongside two Principal Investigators, the successful Research Coordinator will have the opportunity to support two projects: one focused on co-design of a family strengthening intervention with and for Indigenous communities in the Northwest Territories, and the other focused on co-evaluating the equitable standards for transitions to adulthood for youth in care. Both projects will involve close partnership with government and non-profit organizations and the use of participatory and mixed methods approaches in co-design and evaluation.

Job Summary:

The Research Coordinator (I) is responsible for implementing, monitoring, refining, analyzing, coordinating, and reporting on several research projects. Acts as a resource for the development of protocols, study documents, operations of study management, and management techniques.

  • Write data management and operations documentation for projects.

  • Ensure that the relevant research methodology is applied and all research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in the development of promotional strategies and related materials to encourage participation and support for research projects.
  • Consult on protocol development, student organization, and data management activities.
  • Develop presentations and present information and training sessions to project personnel and project participants.
  • Present at meetings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Keep project participants informed of project progress through regular reports and newsletters.
  • Implement and maintain research project budgets. Create financial projections and make adjustments to research project budgets throughout the fiscal year.
  • Exercise appropriate controls, monitor, and reconcile accounts.
