The Township of Springwater, located in the heart of Simcoe County, is a mixed urban / rural municipality with growing urban settlements and a prosperous agricultural sector. The municipality is currently recruiting a Day Camp Coordinator for its 2026 Summer Day Camp Program.
Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development, supervision and scheduling of recreational programs, special events, staff and activities within a day camp setting.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and implementing all summer camp staff training and monitoring staff performance throughout the summer.
- Coordinate, plan, implement, evaluate and oversee summer day camp activities.
- Ensure compliance with Township policies and procedures.
- Coordinating various administrative camp related duties.
- Promote respectful interactions among staff, volunteers & campers.
- Discipline staff as needed in a constructive and positive manner.
- Conducting staff performance management evaluations and reviews.
- Oversee weekly staff meetings.
- Assist with supervision and evaluation of Leader In Training (LIT) volunteers
- Work in all weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
- Communicate with staff & caregivers, responding promptly to staff and patron inquiries and resolving concerns.
- Ensure the safety, enjoyment, and care of registered camp participants.
- Complete all camp paperwork as required.
- Ability to handle confidential and / or sensitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Rate of Pay
The rate of pay is $21.68 per hour (2025 rate) plus vacation pay and statutory holidays as per the Employment Standards Act.
Hours of Work
This position will work up to 40 hours per week between the hours of 7 : 30 am and 6 : 00 pm, Monday through Friday with a varying schedule to support operational needs and program demand. This position is a mixture of indoors and outdoors with work locations including Elmvale, Midhurst, Minesing, Anten Mills and other off-site destinations; reliable transportation will be required. Successful incumbents must be available to work exclusively from May to Labour Day.
