Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Data Management: Handle day-to-day data entry and transaction logging within the core accounting software.
- Payroll Administration: Coordinate and execute employee payroll processing on a weekly schedule.
- Monthly Reporting: Generate comprehensive month-end financial statements, ensuring strict delivery by the 15th of the succeeding month.
- Year-End Closures: Direct annual closing procedures, including the preparation of accrual journal entries and thorough general ledger reconciliations.
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage end-to-end accounting functions, supervising Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), credit cards, bank accounts, and prepaid assets.
- CRA Tax Compliance: Oversee the accurate preparation and timely filing of all Canada Revenue Agency returns, including HST, payroll source deductions, EHT, and corporate taxes.
- Team Leadership: Supervise the Accounts Receivable clerk, providing guidance to streamline collections and recover outstanding balances.
- Operational Support: Adapt to evolving business needs by executing additional financial and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications
What You Bring to the Role:
- Educational background in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Bachelor’s degree required).
- 5+ years of proven track record driving full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping processes from the ground up.
- Industry familiarity with the unique financial workflows of project-based businesses like construction.
- Tech-savvy skill set, including deep familiarity with Sage 50 and sharp Microsoft Excel/Office skills.
