Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.
The HR Technology team is responsible for optimizing and modernizing the systems and tools that support HR functions. These functions include recruitment, learning, performance, operations and talent data management. In HR Tech, we aim to improve the overall employee experience, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness, using modern and emerging technologies.
As a Senior Business Analyst in HR-IT, you will drive strategic initiatives to optimize HR systems, processes, and data governance across critical domains mentioned above.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Analyze HR products, HR Data, and related systems in collaboration with the HR Business partners for business areas such as Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience, Contingent Workforce Management, HR Operations & Talent Cycles, Payroll and Compensation.
Understand existing application flows, system architecture, upstream/downstream integrations, and business rules. Document complex business process and systems - using tools such as LucidChart or Visio, Confluence, Jira etc.
Lead requirement elicitation, development, and documentation of complex projects. Manage the product backlog in an Agile environment, crafting detailed user stories and conducting backlog grooming to align with business priorities.
Effectively collaborate with Business, IT and vendor teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment. Facilitate workshops and interactive sessions to resolve ambiguities and drive consensus on complex requirements.
Develop requirements related to HR Data processing and management leading to improvement of overall data quality and data governance practices.
Identify and address issues of medium-to-high complexity, proposing actionable solutions while escalating critical concerns to Product Owners/Managers.
Proactively seek to understand risks and RBC compliance requirements. Proactively call out both IT and project risks, document them and propose mitigation strategies.
Partner with Project Managers and Development teams to plan deliverables, resolve technical challenges, and monitor progress. Provide regular updates to management on milestones, risks, and outcomes.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have:
Demonstrated knowledge of IT systems, architecture, and integration principles, with experience working on large-scale IT projects involving the development, implementation, or support of complex systems.
Proven ability to elicit, analyze, and document business needs and translating them into clear, actionable system requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences (technical and non-technical stakeholders). Proficiency in creating comprehensive documentation, including process flows, context diagrams, use cases, and training materials, to articulate complex systems and processes.
Strong facilitation and collaboration skills to engage effectively with cross-functional teams (Business, IT, Vendors) and drive requirement-gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews.
Advanced data analysis skills, including proficiency in SQL for querying, manipulating, and interpreting large datasets. Ability to ensure data integrity, quality, and governance.
Nice-to-have:
Familiarity with machine learning, AI, and emerging technologies (e.g., Generative AI, Agentic AI)
Understanding of HR business processes, including Core HR, Payroll, Compensation, and Skills Management.
Knowledge of IT risk management frameworks and compliance requirements.
Hands-on experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) for automation, scripting, or data analysis tasks.
