Job descriptionMinimum of OSSD and Developmental Service Worker diploma. Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital or community setting with persons with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities and mental illness. CPI / TCI, Mental Health First Aid and Quality Assurance Measures training preferred. CPR certification or recertification within the last 12 months. Access to an reliable vehicle and valid G driver’s license for day-to-day operations. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. English level A- is mandatory in oral expression / comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French / English) is considered an asset.
Duties
- Provide person-centered support promoting self-determination for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness.
- Ensure safety, dignity, and compliance with legislation, policies, and standards of practice.
- Implement evidence-based behavioral plans and adapt strategies for learning, life skills, and vocational training.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and social networks to achieve person-directed goals.
- Communicate effectively through written, oral, and electronic formats; document incidents and progress accurately.
- Respond to crises and emergencies, conducting safety checks and reporting per policy.
- Support health and wellness within role limits, encouraging active and healthy lifestyles.
- Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient / client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
- Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royals Anti-Racism, Harassment and Discrimination Free Policy.
