INVISTA is actively seeking a contribution motivated profession for an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to advance our vision and support the dynamic operations of our Maitland, Ontario site.
The EHS Manager creates long term value by ensuring risks are identified and mitigated while sustaining performance improvement and striving for EHS excellence.
This is accomplished by providing leadership and strategic direction to the facility leadership and team through the application of the Principle Based Management® (PBM®).
The EHS Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the EHS compliance programs and systems.
This position will lead the EHS programs and assist in ensuring compliance with pertinent laws and regulations.
What You Will Do
- Coach and mentor employees to facilitate ownership of Safety & Health Compliance and risk awareness at all levels of the organization.
- Providing proactive leadership and direction to achieve the EH&S vision through management commitment and employee ownership
- Developing and aligning facility EH&S programs and strategies according to the business / enterprise EH&S plan
- Conducting routine and non-routine EH&S reporting including government interactions
- Ensuring the EH&S vision is developed and integrated
- Fostering an environment where employees understand and exercise their decision rights regarding EH&S
- Ensuring EH&S system elements are integrated into the line organization's responsibilities and expectations
- Leading the development of risk assessment methods / systems for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards
- Increasing critical hazard awareness thereby reducing the likelihood of at-risk behaviors
- Ensuring an effective change management process is in place
- Conduct workplace investigations, audits and assessments
- Partnering with facility leadership to develop short and long-term EH&S objectives, targets, strategies, and measures that prioritize and mitigate risks
- Ensuring the development, improvement, and implementation of training systems to meet facility needs utilizing qualified instructors
- Fostering an EH&S environment of collaboration and active participation with all employees
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience in a safety-related role in the military, industrial, or manufacturing environment
- Experience conducting incident investigations and developing corrective and preventative actions
- Experience using and applying effective EHS Management Systems
- Experience and working knowledge of OHSA and or OSHA regulations and compliance
- Experience developing site regulatory compliance programs and training
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Safety & Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, and / or related field, OR three (3+) or more years in a safety-related role in an industrial / manufacturing facility
- Certified Safety Professional (CRSP), or equivalent certification
- Five (5) or more years in a safety leadership role at an industrial / manufacturing facility
- Experience with managing Environmental programs, including working knowledge of related laws regulations applicable to chemical refining facility, including occupational health and hygiene, emissions, noise, drinking water and wastewater.
