We’re looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality Manager who will provide leadership and direction in developing and maintaining comprehensive environmental, health, safety, and quality management systems (EHSQMS).
This individual will oversee the implementation of policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, while driving continuous improvement in EHS and quality performance.
This role will be based in one of our Ontario sites (Brampton / Mississauga) on a hybrid working arrangement 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home, and travel will be required as business needs arise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop and implement a strategic EHS and Quality management vision, goals, and objectives aligned with the organization's overall strategy and goals.
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of integrated EHSQMS across all organizational functions and locations.
- Lead a team of EHS and Quality supervisors to support all our locations and programs.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement in EHSQ practices and performance through innovation, technology adoption, and best practices.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., CEPA, local environmental laws), occupational health and safety regulations (e.
g., OHSA, CCOHS, HSE), and quality & sustainability standards (e.g., ISO, 5S, SGP, FSC, SFI).
- Lead, coordinate and / or conduct Internal & External QMS & EHS audits, and other program audits as required, including inspections, and assessments to identify risks, hazards, and opportunities for improvement in EHS and Quality performance.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to prevent recurrence of incidents and non-conformities.
- Support Operations with R&D requirements when issues arise in quality of products and when change is needed in operations for a new product development.
- Develop and deliver EHSQ training programs that include any other certification programs within the operations (e.g., SGP, 5S, FSC & SFI) to enhance awareness and competency among employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Handles on-going management and maintenance of QMS & EHS Documentation.
- Supporting sustainability reporting obligations for financial and reporting purposes including client report requests from an operations perspective, contributing to corporate sustainability, collaborating with other functions on ESG requirements.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, oversee regulatory inspections, and ensure timely submission of reports and permits.
- Analyze EHSQ performance data, metrics, and trends to develop reports and present findings to senior management.
- Develop and report on KPI’s (e.g. waste, errors).
REQUIREMENTS :
- Expert knowledge of EHS regulations for Canada, quality management systems, and environmental management systems.
- Experience in leading EHS audits, inspections, incident investigations, and implementing CAPAs.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve EHSQ performance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of managing teams, driving cultural change, and fostering collaboration across departments and locations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, with a focus on achieving strategic EHSQ objectives and targets.
- Advanced computer skills, MS Office programs.
- Ability to travel between different site locations as business needs arise.
