Energy Storage Systems (ESS) is an emerging business line, comprised of modular systems for on-grid and off-grid applications.
About this role
This position is part of our Energy Storage Solutions team (ESS). This role is responsible for developing, documenting, and executing the product verification, validation, and certification processes for UL, CSA, TUV, ANSI / NFPA, NEC, IEC / CE required to support the production, compliance, and certification of new highly complex and customized products as well as existing products.
This includes coordinating with internal teams, external laboratories, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and successful certification.
This role does not have direct reports.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Qualification & Certification Management
Lead the entire qualification & certification process for our ESS products line, including :
- Standards scope definition;
- Certification strategy plans definition;
- Testing means, resources and tools implementation;
- Internal resources & sub-contractors’ coordination;
- Planning and scheduling;
- FMEA construction;
- Documentation;
- Equipment configuration;
- Qualification & certification testing execution.
Regulatory Compliance
Stay up-to-date with changes (from preliminary stages) in North American standards and regulations, and ensure that our electrical equipment meets all necessary requirements for certification.
Internal Coordination
Collaborate with engineering, product development, quality assurance, and other internal teams to gather necessary documentation, conduct testing, and address any issues related to qualification & certification.
This will include planning, developing, and implementing test protocols, equipment configuration, and qualification testing procedures.
External Collaboration
Liaise with Nationally Recognized (e.g. : OSHA) Testing Laboratories, certification bodies, and other external partners to facilitate the certification process and address any technical or administrative challenges.
Be part of the standards working groups to influence the orientations and preserve the SOCOMEC interests.
Project Management
Develop and maintain plans, timelines, and budgets for certification projects, and ensure that all milestones are met on schedule and within budget.
Quality Assurance
Implement and maintain quality management systems to ensure that our electrical equipment meets the highest standards of safety and reliability.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of all certification-related activities, including test reports, compliance documentation, BESS configuration documentation and certification certificates.
Prepare regular reports for senior management on the status of certification projects.
Safety
- o Promote a culture of prevention;
- o Assess risks at the earliest stage and implement the appropriate means of prevention;
- o Update, inform and apply safety guidelines;
o Collaborate with Corporate Safety department as needed.
Transversal Collaboration
o Develop and maintain strong and effective business relationships with NAM teams and the key corporate Socomec leaders;
o Participate in industry events and associations.
Education & Background Required
o Minimum of 15 years of experience within the electrical manufacturing industry, with a strong focus on North American certification;
o Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
Skills Requirement
- o In-depth knowledge of North American standards and regulations pertaining to electrical equipment;
- o Proven track record of successfully managing certification projects from start to finish;
- o Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources effectively;
- o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
- o Detail-oriented mindset, with a commitment to accuracy and compliance;
- o Certification as a UL Certified Professional (ULCP) or similar credential preferred;
o Expertise in Electronic Power conversions and DER (Distributed Energies Resources) interconnections grid codes would be an additional advantage.
Additional Specific Requirements
- o Must possess and maintain an unrestricted valid driver’s license;
- o Ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel;
o Must be available for business travel to international locations.
