Intermediate Electrical Engineer, Roadway Lighting and Traffic Signals

Our client, an engineering consulting firm, is engaged in the provision of professional engineering, operation, and management services.
The firm is sustained by their core values of quality, employee ownership, financial stability, and integrity. They are actively seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, Roadway Lighting and Traffic Signals to join their growing teams in their Toronto or Halton office.
Your responsibilities will include :
Providing engineering and design for electrical systems as part of both small and large scale multi-disciplinary projects for public and private sector clients.
Services include Lighting, Traffic Signals, and Joint Utility Trench designs.
- Preparing schematic and detailed design drawings.
- Providing technical and administrative support at all stages of the project, from proposal to construction.
- Periodic field visits to review existing conditions, assess conflicts, and provide support during construction.
- Completing lighting analysis using AGi32.
- Preparing Contract documents, including specifications and cost estimates.
- Preparation of post construction record drawings.
- Reviewing Shop Drawings.
- Support in field, including commissioning and site inspections.
- Mentoring of junior staff.
Qualifications :
- Education in Civil and Electrical Engineering with a specific focus on the design of the roadway lighting and traffic signals.
- Minimum of 5 years of design experience, preferably in consulting industry.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., TAC, ESA, IMSA, AODA, RP-8, Ontario Traffic Manuals, OPSS, Highway Traffic Act, PHM-125 Legal Plans).
- Experience in the coordination of utility contacts and conflict assessment.
- Proficient with AGi32 and AutoCAD.
- Ability to calculate tender item quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
- Experience with preparation of pavement marking and roadway signage plans.
- Good understanding and familiarity with Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and municipal projects.
- Experience with MicroStation, Auto Turn and SPIDAcalc will be considered an asset.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
