We are currently seeking a Director, Culture & Talent Development to join our team.
The Director, Culture & Talent Development provides strategic leadership for First West’s leadership & learning and culture & talent development teams. This role leads the design and delivery of organization-wide strategies, frameworks, tools, coaching and training to support culture and talent development priorities, including diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging (DEIB), organizational development, leadership and learning development, career development, change enablement framework, and culture assessment. As a member of the People & Culture Leadership team, the Director contributes to integrated HR strategies and acts as a key change leader.
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day
- Leadership: Provides strategic and operational leadership to the team, ensuring programs and services are delivered effectively. Provides coaching and development to team members, establishes annual goals and objectives, and assesses performance of direct reports. Participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and completion of the People & Culture strategic plan and annual budgets.
- Culture, Talent, and Organizational Development: Leads the design and delivery of culture, talent, leadership and organizational development solutions across First West, including leadership and employee development, engagement and retention, career development, and change management.
- Leadership Development & Coaching: Partners with business leaders to design and deliver a comprehensive leadership development strategy aligned with First West purpose, values and culture. Establishes a coaching framework and provides senior leader coaching, individually and with teams, as needed.
- Organizational Change Management: Leads the change management centre of expertise. Assesses organizational change needs and develops policies, framework, tools, and training to build change management capability and support enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB): Oversees the development and execution of First West’s DEIB strategy and embeds it into culture, purpose, leadership practices and business priorities.
- Evaluation Metrics: Establishes metrics to assess the effectiveness of culture and talent development programs and coaching practice and reports on impact and outcomes.
- Projects: Leads department projects end-to-end (. OHI and Pulse Check surveys, defining critical leadership skills, competencies, and assessment).
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, master’s degree an asset
- CPHR and/or coaching designation preferred
- 8-10 years’ progressive HR experience, with 5 years leadership experience
- 5+ years’ leadership development experience
- Change management certified
- Experience in organizational development preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people
- Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of and coaching ability
- Proven experience in successfully leading change initiatives across an organization
- Commitment to DEIB and the ability to integrate into leadership & learning, culture and talent development programs
- Proficient with computer software application . Microsoft Office
- Experience with LMS
- Experience with people analytics and survey platforms
- Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and standards (. OSFI, FCAC, PCMLTFA, CDIC, applicable privacy laws, employment law, and collaborates with our Risk and regulatory compliance teams to address any policy and compliance gaps.
