  • A commitment to equity, inclusion, and reconciliation along with an understanding of the WSÁNEĆ First Nation and broader Indigenous communities;
  • A commitment to the First Peoples Principles of Learning;
  • Proven administrative success in K-12 education as a principal or district principal, with experience at the elementary level an asset;
  • Extensive knowledge of the BC K-12 curriculum and education system;
  • Expertise in the area of Early Learning and Early Literacy and the ability to lead these initiatives district-wide;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex organizational responsibilities effectively;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams of teachers to develop, implement, and evaluate curricular innovation and sound instructional and assessment practices;
  • Ability to collaboratively plan professional development or in-service opportunities for staff;
  • Broad knowledge of English Language Learners and familiarity with Speech and Language programs and practices;
  • Demonstrated ability to embody the qualities and approaches desired of the District while providing exemplary support and supervision of school administrators and district teacher leaders to enhance their growth as professionals and educational leaders;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on relationship building;
  • Demonstrated success in project initiation, implementation, and completion;
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to work with budgets and other critical operational necessities;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the key role digital access and student / staff digital literacy plays in improving student learning and instructional practice;
  • Evidence of a commitment to personal excellence, professionalism, and continued professional growth;
  • An understanding that the Board's vision for public education in Saanich will require a long-term leadership commitment.

The Saanich School District offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $164,459 - $182,732.
