About the Role:

Reporting to the Chair oftheDepartment of EngineeringtheEngineering &Computational Systems Administratoris responsible foradministering, supporting, and enhancing the technical systems that support teaching, research, accreditation, and student experience within the Department of Engineering. TheSystems Administratorserves as the primary technical expert for departmental systems and laboratory technologies, partnering closely with ITS, faculty, lab supervisors, and students to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement. The incumbent supports system configuration and maintenance, accreditation and assessment platforms, provides training and engagement across the Engineering department community, and contributes to strategic initiatives by researching, implementing, andoptimizingtools and workflows that advance engineering education and research.

TheEngineering & Computational Systems Administratorwill:

  • Serve as primary administrator for the Department of Engineering systems and technology, ensuring effective configuration, maintenance, security, and data integrity;

  • Act as a first level escalation point for technical/system-related questions from students,facultyand staff;

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot software and hardware for simulation, AI, robotics, and sensing laboratories;

  • Manage classroom and instructional computing infrastructure, including design studios and digital learning content;

  • Develop,maintain, and administer assessment data platforms (,Libellum) to support CEAB accreditation requirements;

  • Lead or contribute to system and technology development activities including requirements analysis, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, quality assurance, and documentation;

  • Provide technical expertise and advice related to reporting, system security and access, enhancements, prioritization, and project planning in collaboration with the Chair and ITS;

  • Assist all Faculty and staff with technology and system changes, documentation and technical support to ensure a seamless transition;

  • Deliver workshops on digital tools, ethics, professional communication, and technical writing;

  • Represent Brock and the Department of Engineering at community events and in all partnership activities;

  • Support recruitment events, EDI programming (, Women in Engineering Forum), and community outreach;

  • Train facultyand staff on new systems and tools;and

  • Act as liaison for ITS for technology and system related inquiries.

KeySkills andExperience:

  • RelevantEngineering degree ( robotics, electronics, software, computer engineering)or Computer Sciencedegree. Equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered;

  • Experience providing technical support within engineering, computing, laboratory, or applied technology environments;

  • Experience in agile industrial, academic, or research computing environments;

  • Experience with computational systems, engineering software, and instructional technology (, robotics, simulation tools, AI, sensing technologies);

  • Experience building andmaintainingcommunity, industry, or educational partnerships; Experience with project coordination, data tracking, documentation management, andcross-departmentalcommunication;

  • Knowledge of engineering instructional technologies, including robotics, AI tools, sensor systems, simulation platforms, and laboratory hardware/software;

  • Understanding of assessment platforms, curriculum mapping tools, accreditation documentation (, CEAB standards),digital learning tools, LMS platforms, and classroom computing environments;

  • Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community;

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and workshop facilitation skills;

  • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and computational systems;

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously;and

  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and implement system upgrades and improvements.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • Master’s degree (MSc) in Computer Engineering, or a closely relevant field.

SalaryandTotal Rewards:

  • Job GradeL, Salary Scale ($66,817- $108,353);

  • TargetHiring Range:$66,817 -$70,000*
