Job description

Company Overview:

Edison College Canada is a Designated Private Career College. Established in 1973, formerly known as ‘Victoria College of Art’, we are one of the oldest and largest institutions serving the Island community by offering programs in Healthcare, Business and Arts. As we head into our 50th year of operations, and given the unforeseen and challenging situations we have encountered over the past 2 years, the need of the hour required us to step up and assist our community by offering training in areas that are severely hit with acute shortage of trained workers.

Edison College Canada is looking for a dedicated individual to join our Admin team team as an Office Administrator/ Receptionist. Reporting to the College Director, this position is a primary point of contact for prospective students, disseminating information about the college, its programs, and admission processes.

The incumbent will be contributing to the growth of our student enrolment by managing leads and personally developing the pipeline by supporting, interviewing, and encouraging qualified students to study at Edison College Canada. The ideal candidate for this position is described as enthusiastic, ambitious, and results-oriented – with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls, providing information as needed.
  • Manage and maintain the reception area, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Handle student inquiries and direct them to the appropriate department or staff member.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments for meetings, interviews, and other events.
  • Assist in administrative tasks, such as sorting and distributing mail, and maintaining records.
  • Monitor and maintain office supplies inventory.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in office administration are a plus.
  • 1-2 years proven experience as a receptionist or in a similar role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Professional demeanor with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle a busy front desk and manage various tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of an Admission process within a post-secondary environment demonstrating knowledge of Admission criteria, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in working with a private college setting will be an asset.

Work Location: In person.
