Specifically, this position is geared towards facilities involving utilizing hydrometallurgical processes, solvent extraction and pyrometallurgical processes including, fluid bed reactors, entrained flow reactors, and the handling of offgas streams. The successful candidate will lead a small team to support such designs in the realm of process simulation. Specific expectations and knowledge required include: + Modeling of electrolyte and solid-state thermodynamics + Evaluation of published data from the scientific literature + Regression of data to support simulation models + Interfacing with simulation software suppliers if necessary to validate predictions + Specific prior experience and knowledge of OLI Flowsheet ESP, Aspen Plus, METSIM or other simulation tools used in the field. **General Duties and Responsibilities** + Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices in all areas of assignments + Assist others on engineering problems and methods + Use advanced techniques, precepts and practices of the relevant field of process work + Contribute to planning and coordinating work + May supervise others and/or be responsible for training of junior engineers/specialists + Understand Company’s market targets and strategic direction; monitor industry developments through sources in the company + Review and understand the Project Execution Plan; coordinate with engineering and other disciplines to ensure Process Activity Plan meshes with remainder of team + Understand development of schedule logic and effort-hours budgets + Assist in developing process design data and criteria + Contribute value awareness concepts to Process design in regard to cost focus + Review project schedules and assist in development of work plans to support project milestones + Perform process studies for more complex systems + Develop Heat and Material Balance (H&MB) for more complex process units + Check calculations of others; perform calculations for complex systems + Mentor and train less experience team members + Development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams + Evaluate upset conditions in the process and help define the design envelope + Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines + Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines + Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff + Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards + Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies + May need to travel to attend to business related matters + Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality + Other duties as assigned **Basic Job Requirements** • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements • Registered as a Professional Engineer in at least one Canadian province • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner **Other Job Requirements** This position can be based out of Fluor Calgary office or Vancouver office **Preferred Qualifications** Fluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment.
