Role: Data Engineer Salary: 75,000-85,000 + Bonus + Stock Options + Health Benefits Location: Toronto preferred, EST timezone, Remote-friendly.

Data Engineer Salary: $75,000–$85,000 base + Bonus + Stock Options + Health Benefits Location: Toronto preferred, EST time zone acceptable Work Style: Remote-friendly About Veem Veem is transforming the way small and medium-sized businesses move money around the world.

Traditional payment systems are often slow, expensive, and unnecessarily complex, creating friction between businesses and the vendors, contractors, and customers they rely on every day.

Veem was built to solve that problem.

Our platform makes it easier for businesses to send and receive payments quickly, transparently, and with confidence.

By combining modern financial infrastructure with a relationship-driven approach, we help our customers streamline both payables and receivables while strengthening trust across their business network.

We also make payments easier to manage by integrating with leading accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, and Xero, enabling businesses to operate more efficiently within the tools they already use.

Backed by world-class investors including Truist Ventures, Google Ventures, Goldman Sachs, Kleiner Perkins, and a global syndicate of technology-forward banks across the US, Japan, China, Australia, and the Middle East, Veem is a fast-growing financial technology company shaping the future of global payments across multiple payment types, including blockchain-enabled solutions.

At Veem, we are building products for a market that is evolving rapidly.

That means we are not only solving today’s payment challenges, but also creating the infrastructure and tools that businesses will rely on tomorrow.

The Opportunity We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team and help support the systems that power data visibility, reporting, and operational decision-making across the business.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working deeply in backend data environments, takes pride in building reliable systems, and is motivated by solving practical, high-impact problems.

You will play an important role in maintaining and improving our data pipelines, optimizing data infrastructure, and supporting the creation and upkeep of reports used across the organization.

This is a highly technical position focused on the quality, accessibility, and performance of our data systems.

It is well-suited to someone who is detail-oriented, hands-on, and excited by the opportunity to work in a fast-moving fintech environment with meaningful scale and complexity.

This role is intentionally designed as a backend-focused data position.

You will not be expected to spend your time in heavy stakeholder management or business-user-facing work.

Instead, your focus will be on building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the data foundation that others rely on.

What You’ll Do As a Data Engineer at Veem, you will be responsible for supporting and evolving the core data infrastructure that enables internal reporting and operational workflows.

Your work will directly influence the reliability and usability of business-critical data.

Your responsibilities will include: Maintaining and optimizing existing data pipelines and infrastructure to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability Writing, testing, and improving SQL and Python-based data workflows Supporting reporting needs across the business, including areas such as compliance and partner billing Fixing broken or outdated reports and improving their consistency and maintainability Building specific data views and datasets in response to internal requests Monitoring data quality and investigating inconsistencies, failures, or performance issues Improving data models and structures to better support reporting and downstream usage Collaborating with technical teammates to ensure data systems align with product and operational requirements Contributing to best practices in data engineering, documentation, and system reliability Tech Stack You will be working with a modern data stack that includes: Snowflake for backend data storage and processing Looker for reporting and analytics Python for scripting, transformation, and automation SQL as a core language for querying, modeling, and pipeline logic Strong proficiency in Python and SQL is required for success in this role.

What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who is technically strong, dependable, and excited about building data systems in a high-growth environment.

The ideal candidate is comfortable owning backend data work end-to-end and thrives in an environment where priorities move quickly and meaningful contributions are visible.

You may be a strong fit if you have: Experience working in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar technical data-focused role Strong SQL skills and the ability to write efficient, clear, and maintainable queries Solid Python experience for data processing, scripting, and automation Experience working with modern cloud data warehouses, ideally Snowflake Familiarity with BI or reporting tools such as Looker Experience maintaining data pipelines and resolving data/reporting issues A strong sense of ownership and accountability for the systems you support A practical, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail Comfort working independently in a remote-first, async-friendly environment Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated environments is a plus, but not required.

Why Join Veem Joining Veem means becoming part of a company that is tackling real-world financial problems with urgency, creativity, and ambition.

We are building in one of the most dynamic areas of technology, and we are looking for people who want to make a tangible impact.

We are committed to innovation in FinTech Veem operates at the intersection of finance and technology, where innovation is essential.

We are continuously improving our platform and launching new products designed to modernize the global payments experience.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to systems that support a rapidly evolving product ecosystem.

Remote-first and async-friendly: We support distributed work and value clear, thoughtful communication High trust, low bureaucracy: We aim to keep processes lean and empower people to do their best work Focused on outcomes, not meetings: We care more about impact and delivery than performative busyness Ownership-oriented: People at Veem are trusted to take initiative and follow through This is an environment where strong individual contributors can do meaningful work without unnecessary layers of process slowing them down.

Growth and Development This role offers the chance to grow quickly while working on technically interesting and business-critical problems.

At Veem, you will have opportunities to: Take on larger scope as you build context and demonstrate impact Work with complex financial and payment data systems Develop deeper expertise in cloud data infrastructure and reporting systems Grow along either a technical specialist path or toward leadership over time Compensation and Benefits Base salary: $75,000–$85,000 Bonus eligibility Stock options Health benefits Remote-friendly work environment Join Us If you are a data engineer who enjoys building reliable systems, solving practical problems, and working behind the scenes on infrastructure that matters, we would love to hear from you.

Join Veem and help build the future of global payments.
