Your Job

DarkVision is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Imaging & AI team. You will contribute to multiple data pipelines that provide operational intelligence, underpin machine learning models, and feed directly into customer reports. Your work will ensure the accuracy and optimization of transformation logic, expand pipeline scope, and unlock new capabilities for reporting and analysis. You will be the bridge between our expert data analysts, machine learning models, and the actionable insights delivered internally and to our clients.

DarkVision’s ultrasound imaging system collects terabyte-scale datasets, capturing sub-millimetric defects across assets spanning hundreds of kilometres. Interpreting these massive and complex datasets requires more than just black-box models; it requires robust pipeline architecture with clear lineage and traceability. Your focus will be developing this clean and reliable foundation that enables the intuitive results our clients rely on.

Our Team

Working within the Integration team in the Imaging & AI group, you will join a multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers. This team is responsible for early-stage ideation, research, experimentation, and development. You will collaborate closely with scientists and engineers within the team, as well as with product managers, software engineers and data analysts, to ensure the seamless transfer of data from raw capture to report.

What You Will Do

• Data Pipeline Development: Build and optimize pipelines that power reporting and visualization deliverables. You will proactively identify bottlenecks and coverage gaps in our pipelines to support the rapid progress of teams that depend on them.
• Pipeline Validation and Report Integrity: Design and implement rigorous testing and validation processes for rendering and reporting pipelines. You will build automated quality checks to ensure reports are accurate, consistent, and delivered reliably to stakeholders.
• App/Dashboard Development: Build and maintain small internal applications and dashboards used for internal data access and report generation. You will work with internal stakeholders to capture requirements, design features (front and back end), test, and implement them.
• Information Visualization: Automate the rendering pipeline for compelling 2D and 3D visuals that translate complex acoustic data into clear, client-facing insights for VPs and C-suite executives. You will write code to generate new visuals, embed them in reports, and onboard the required data sources.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience writing production code as part of a team.
• Strong proficiency in Python for data manipulation and analysis.
• Proficiency in Pandas, Polars, or similar.
• Experience with Git/GitHub or other source control tools.
• Experience with a cloud infrastructure platform (preferably AWS).
• Strong communication skills to present complex technical problems to senior non-technical audiences.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Experience with a workflow orchestration tool (preferably Prefect).
• Experience with data modelling tools (preferably dbt).
• Experience deploying pipelines as Docker containers.
• Experience with CI/CD processes and tools (e.g. TeamCity).
• Experience writing complex SQL queries.
• Experience working on a team with AI-assisted coding tools.

General Salary Range

For this role, we anticipate paying $70,000 to $110,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. #LI-DV1
