Employment Type : Full-Time, Temporary Contract (Maternity Coverage)

Start Date : Feb. 1, 2026 - Jan 31, 2027 (12 months)

Compensation : DOE (alongside further perks & benefits)

JOB SYNOPSIS

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team for a 12 month contract, providing coverage for a maternity leave. Under the guidance of the General Manager, the Interim Financial Controller will plan, direct and coordinate the financial, accounting, and administrative activities of the operation for Knee Deep Developments Corporation and its subsidiaries, including Whitewater Mountain Resort.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and supervise all accounting functions, including billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Recruit, train, and performance manage the Finance and Administration team.
  • Perform financial forecasting and manage the preparation of required monthly and yearly financial statements, analyses, and reports for delivery to management and the Board of Directors
  • Coordinate the preparation of all government regulatory reporting and ensure timely compliance
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

  • Audit and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks
  • Oversee and maintain the company’s finance IT system alongside IT Director
  • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems
  • Management and support of the downtown office operations.
  • Additional Human Resources and Occupational Health & Safety administration duties as necessary
  • Assist with back-end setup, including security, payment and product items, and integration with accounting software.
  • Promote and maintain positive corporate relations with the community and guests.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budgets. Work closely with department managers to develop business plans and provide advice and guidance to managers in respect to all accounting matters. Recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
  • Assist with special reporting and analysis projects
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time by Management and Board of Directors
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION

  • Professional accounting designation, CPA.
  • 5+ years of equivalent accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with preparing financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end / year-end close processes
  • Excellent accounting software skills (e.g. QuickBooks) and administration skills (e.g Microsoft, Outlook)

  • Knowledge of ski industry or hospitality operations
  • Must possess extreme attention to detail.
