Calgary based client is seeking an experienced Controller to help build and lead the company’s financial infrastructure. This role will establish disciplined financial operations, implement robust reporting and controls, enhance forecasting accuracy, and ensure clear visibility into unit economics and margins as the company scales. Ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑growing, mission‑driven startup.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

• Lead internal accounting function, ensuring accurate, timely reporting and compliant monthly closes.
• Implement scalable internal controls, accounting policies, and efficient month‑end processes.
• Build dashboards, tools, and reporting that enable data‑driven decision‑making across the company.
• Manage audits, regulatory requirements, and all external accounting and banking relationships.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, long‑term planning, and scenario modeling.
• Develop models for unit economics, margins, inventory costing, and product profitability.
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, and Sales to improve visibility into COGS, manufacturing efficiency, and pricing.
• Optimize working capital through cash flow forecasting, inventory planning, and purchasing analysis.
• Support fundraising, including grants, equity processes, and financial modeling for investors.
• Implement financial systems, ERP tools, and workflows that reduce founder involvement and support scalable operations.

Your strengths include:

• CPA designation with 3-5 years of progressive finance/accounting experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, materials, climate tech, or CPG is highly valuable.
• Hands‑on experience building financial processes in a fast‑paced startup environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and unit economics.
• Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems; ability to implement new tools.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, solutions‑oriented mindset.
