Under the same ownership since 1988, our company is implementing a significant growth strategy and is looking for a Financial Controller to join our team based out of our Belleville location.
This role will oversee the corporate accounting functions across our company. You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, in ensuring that accounting and financial processes are streamlined, as well as analyzing and presenting key financial results.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Process and manage day-to-day corporate accounting functions and practices in a fast-paced environment, with an exceptional ability to prioritize and multi-task meeting tight deadlines
- Coordinate and prepare timely and accurate financial analysis and reports as required to support management’s decision-making
- Review and prepare monthly and annual budgets
- Monitor and record all AP/AR/GL and payments on a continuous basis, as well as troubleshoot AP & AR issues
- Approve invoices and coordinate accounting, tax and other financial operations for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Implement, document and maintain processes for adequate and effective internal controls
- Complete bank reconciliations, process deposits, and oversee cash transactions
- Managing and tracking the payroll system and ensuring all government reporting deadlines & remittances are met
- Facilitate the fiscal year end processes and procedures
- Communicate metrics and financial trends to management, with the creation and analysis of key performance indicators
- Establish and maintain internal controls and system of financial reporting
- Other duties as assigned or required
The successful candidate will have:
- A University Degree in Accounting or Finance
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a progressive accounting role
- A professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA)
- In-depth experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs and other financial monitoring and accounting software
- Superior knowledge of accounting practices as applied to cash flow forecasting, financial statement reporting, management reporting and taxes
- The ability to deal with people and situations in a professional and tactful manner at all times
- Exceptional understanding of accounting principles and legislation, ensuring compliance at all times
- Superior leadership qualities and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage people and organizational planning and capabilities
- The demonstrated ability to perform under pressure and meet timelines, deadlines and company goals
- The ability to multitask in an accurate and timely manner
