This is a key leadership role driven by growth, supporting a $150M+ annual organization managing approximately 15–20 active projects at any given time.

This position is ideal for a hands-on construction finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and is eager to help elevate financial operations while supporting executive leadership.

Must Haves

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a senior finance role with a General Contractor or large subcontractor

  • Strong expertise in WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and job cost analysis

  • Extensive experience with progress billings, subcontractor billings, and holdbacks

  • Proven experience managing and developing an accounting team

  • Advanced knowledge of project cost control and construction financial reporting

  • Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting in a multi-project environment

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple active jobs simultaneously

  • Ability to work full-time in-office in Abbotsford, BC

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Spectrum ERP (Trimble platform)

  • Exposure to interprovincial projects including familiarity with interprovincial tax considerations and filings

  • Experience in a $100M+ revenue construction environment

  • Experience supporting executive leadership in scaling and process improvement initiatives

  • Background in improving reporting systems, internal controls, and financial processes during periods of growth

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial operations for a commercial construction portfolio of approximately 15–20 active projects

  • Lead and manage a team consisting of Accounts Payable, Project Accounting, and an Assistant Controller

  • Own WIP reporting, job cost tracking, forecasting, and margin analysis across all active projects

  • Review and oversee progress billings, subcontractor billings, and holdback management

  • Partner closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate cost control and financial performance monitoring

  • Provide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting

  • Support executive leadership by streamlining processes and relieving operational financial bottlenecks created by company growth

  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial procedures to support continued expansion

  • Oversee cash flow management and forecasting across the project portfolio

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve operational efficiency between finance and project teams

  • Contribute strategically to the company’s continued growth and scalability

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Senior Financial Controller who enjoys being close to the projects, building strong teams, and playing a meaningful role in a growing commercial construction organization.
