Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hour shifts
Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN), part of Ontario Health, is responsible for the coordination of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Ontario. Our mandate includes increasing public awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation, education of health care professionals, and ensuring a safe and effective donation and transplant system in Ontario. Working collaboratively with our stakeholders and fostering organizational and individual growth, we value honesty, trust, respect and compassion.
Here is what you will be doing:
Provides mentorship and coaching to PRC- Tissue staff;
Collaborates with the Manager and the education department to develop training for any and all of the following for the purpose of professional development and initiatives which focus on best processes and practices:
the implementation of new systems, procedures, processes and tools
identified area of improvement (process, tool, system or otherwise)
identified skill gaps / area for competency improvement within the team
Best practices in donor case management
Ongoing competency training and refresher education
Maintain attendance records for all clinical training, orientation and continuing education
Initiates and plans the annual competency review process (for clinical competencies; reviews via the functional template) for PRC- Tissue staff;
Identifies changes to donor management system and other tissue databases or software. For example, GPS tracking, resource sites etc. Works with stakeholders to submit change requests, completes user acceptance testing (UAT) as require and educates staff on the changes made ensuring understanding of new methods to be used internally;
Audits donor management system records to ensure compliance.
Manages assigned projects tasks; ensuring stakeholders and staff affected by projects are informed and aware of changes using proper change management principles;
Works collaboratively with others, identifying action items and assigning to appropriate stakeholders;
Compiles project status updates and reviews with the Project team;
Identifies potential risks (clinical, health & safety or otherwise) and escalates; typically to the responsible manager
Reports quality incidents and works with members of the quality department to gather information for incident and critical incident case reviews, participates in the investigation process and the development of recommendations, and supports the implementation of recommendations arising from case reviews;
Works closely with tissue banks, donor hospitals and other stakeholders to optimize donation outcome; ensures that all processes are streamlined and donor management is maximized;
Works in conjunction with the Tissue Program Managers, to support processes related to tissue donor case management; works with stakeholders, tissue banks and external health care professionals to support this;
Leads evidence-based initiatives to improve donor suitability, increase donor numbers, and strengthen approach and consent processes;
Identifies and develops metrics to support continuous quality monitoring and improvement;
Utilizes research and evidence based practices to develop new practices and procedures;
Assists in preparing for annual internal, tissue bank, Health Canada and Americal Association of Tissue Banking (AATB) audits/inspections
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in science, biological science or health science, with a focus on pathophysiology preferred;
Master’s level preparation in Science or Nursing an asset;
Current or eligible for Certified Tissue Banking Specialist certification (to be acquired within 3 years);
Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in tissue donation or a combination of equivalent experience and education
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated experience in project management an asset;
Demonstrated experience in change management an asset;
Demonstrated experience in adult learning principles an asset;
Demonstrated experience in leading quality initiatives preferred;
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at all levels;
Organized, with strong attention to detail and adaptable to change
Computer literate
Rate of Pay: $82, 793.37 - $103, 492.28
