Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated person to join our Client Operations team based in Burnaby, British Columbia. Our team is focused on providing distinctive, world-class servicing to our global client base of institutional and retail investors. Our purpose is to leave a positive and lasting impression on our clients that compels them to remain invested with Orbis over the long term.

We are a team of highly engaged individuals who strive for excellence and are proud of our individual contributions, but support and collaborate with each other to achieve our goals. If successful, you can look forward to a career that supports your growth and development as you take on increasing responsibility.

Why Orbis?

  • Culture. We encourage intellectual curiosity and individualism as well as collaboration across different areas of the business. Employees' voices – whether quiet or loud – are heard. Sharing ideas and challenging the status quo are commonplace, and managers nurture this behavior.
  • Autonomy. While guidance and support are provided and always readily available, team members own their work and projects.
  • Growth opportunities. We support our employees in continuous learning and development. This includes using new technologies, attending conferences, secondments with other teams, visiting other Orbis locations, external courses and training.
  • Agile work environment. We are committed to providing our people with a work environment where they can balance their successful career with other commitments and interests outside of work.
  • Philanthropy. Our employees have the opportunity to contribute to society in a unique and personal way, through various philanthropy opportunities and programs.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Proactively communicating with clients and other stakeholders (e.g., providing information about the Orbis Funds, participating in client onboarding processes, facilitating account openings, and managing and updating the client database and activity records).
  • Conducting core operations processes related to our transfer agency functions including, but not limited to, Know Your Client (KYC) processes, client money reconciliations and transaction processing
  • Owning key responsibilities related to the transaction cycle of the Orbis Funds. This includes verifying client transactions and validating sensitive client information.
  • Working closely with the global Orbis Fund Operations teams and other business units to effectively communicate relevant information.
  • Managing projects to develop pragmatic improvements and innovative solutions by working collaboratively with our dedicated technology team.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external and internal stakeholders to provide excellent servicing.

About you

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly and empathetically with clients
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills accompanied with the ability to think independently and critically to solve problems
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills enabling you to work well in a team environment and to build strong relationships with different stakeholders
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A self-starter who sees challenges as opportunities and enjoys taking initiative to influence change
  • High standards of personal integrity and ability to maintain confidential information
  • Effective prioritisation and time management skills when working on multiple deliverables

Your qualifications & experience

  • Undergraduate degree with a proven track record of academic achievement and continuous improvement
  • 1-3 years of professional experience with a proven track record of success and progression (this can include internships and/or placements)
  • Prior experience in financial services is not mandatory; however, a keen interest in the investment industry is an asset

What We Offer

The annual base salary for this position will be between $60,000 and $70,000 per year excluding benefits. The total compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus.

Instructions for application

To complete your application, please submit your resume and transcripts (all post-secondary to this point; unofficial are accepted).
