Job description

Are you a Litigation Lawyer looking to remain deeply engaged in complex legal analysis and dispute resolution while stepping away from billable hours and the pressures of private practice? Our client, a respected professional liability organization, is seeking a Claims Counsel to join its collaborative Calgary-based team.

Responsibilities
This is an exceptional opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys strategic problem solving, liability analysis, negotiation, and litigation management. Working alongside an experienced team of legal professionals, the successful candidate will play a key role in autonomously assessing and resolving professional liability claims while continuing to practice law in a highly collegial and intellectually engaging environment.

Qualifications

  • Member of the Alberta Law Society and be in good standing, or eligible for membership
  • Litigation experience is required with backgrounds in personal injury, insurance defence, commercial litigation, family law, or other dispute-focused practices preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and a significant file portfolio
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and intellectually curious with a desire for continuous learning
  • Experience with professional liability, insurance defence, or claims management is considered an asset but is not required
