This position is within the Hydropower & Dams market sector of the Power Division. This market sector specializes in hydroelectric projects (development, rehabilitation), dam and hydraulic structures engineering, and dam safety.

We work in collaboration with public and private sector clients on innovative projects that allow our team members to prove their expertise and to train a new generation of passionate people.

In order to meet these growth challenges, WSP is currently looking for a Dam Safety Engineer to join our team, located in one of our offices in Ontario.

What you can expect to do here :

  • Contribute to and review dam safety and dam engineering documents and reports in Ontario and across Canada;
  • Act as QA / QC reviewer for dam safety and dam engineering projects, including but not limited to dam safety reviews, dam safety inspections, dam design, development of dam safety governance documents (OMS, ERP / EPP, Dam Safety Management System, Public Safety Around Dams plans, etc.

Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, etc.

  • Establish and maintain contact with clients in Ontario to understand their needs as it relates to dam safety and dam engineering projects;
  • Contribute to development of dam safety and dam engineering proposals in Ontario and across Canada for water dams (i.e.
  • utility and non-utility clients);
  • Prepare technical documents and reports related to project management and technical responsibilities noted above;
  • Stay up-to-date on industry technical standards and guidelines as it relates to dam safety and dam engineering practices in Ontario and across Canada;
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to junior staff and identify learning opportunities;

What you'll bring to WSP :

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering;
  • 20+ years of experience in dam safety and dam engineering;
  • Hold a valid licence from a Canadian provincial body regulating the practice of professional engineering;
  • Currently maintain or be eligible to be licensed by Professional Engineers Ontario;
  • Initiative and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
